Victoria Beckham is set to firmly associate chic with geek as she launches her debut range of prescription glasses this October. The star has collaborated with Cutler & Gross to create six pairs of frames, available in three different colourways, which are handmade in Italy.
The designer and former Spice Girl has always been short-sighted and has openly struggled with finding the perfect pair of glasses that met both her aesthetic standards and her practical needs. "I do need to wear glasses?€¦ I haven't found glasses that suit me or that I particularly like. I've always been quite self-conscious, so that's why I've decided to do them myself," she told WWD. The range champions unisex styles as well as classic shapes, all complete with a branded, golden V at the tips. "I will be wearing my glasses now, and it will be nice to see where I'm going for once."
If the price tags on her range of super luxe sunglasses are anything to go by, then you can expect to pay over the ??250 mark. Considering that husband David has already given his stamp of approval to his wife's handy-work (he wears the masculine square frames), and Posh has worn this very pair in US GLAMOUR's September cover shoot, it's easy to predict a sell-out success. There'll certainly be a collective swoon when the ribbon is cut at the international eyewear exhibition Silmo Paris and the full range is unveiled for the first time on 4 October.
Forward planning a purchase should be rather painless, considering the range isn't available to buy until early next year - that's enough time to massage a credit card and accidentally 'break' your current pair of specs. Whoops!
