Anyone conscious during the late 90′s remember the Spice craze that swept the nation. After countless concerts, the movie Spice World and a reunion tour, The Spice Girls have reunited once again to herald the release of their new musical, Viva Forever.
Scary, Sporty, Ginger, Baby, and Posh Spice all came together this morning to announce the release of the musical, Viva Forever. They gathered to celebrate the announcement at the famous St. Pancras Renaissance hotel, where they filmed their first music video “Wannabe” in 1996.
Melanie Brown, Melanie Chrisholm, Geri Halliwell, Emma Bunton, and Victoria Beckham all showed support for the upcoming musical slated for a December release. Viva Forever takes inspiration from popular musicals like Mamma Mia and We Will Rock You. Introducing future generations to “Girl Power,” the Spice musical features famous hits like “Spice Up Your Life,” “Wannabe,” and “Mama.”
Jennifer Saunders, the co-creator of Absolutely Fabulous, and Judy Craymer, producer of Mama Mia, conceived and wrote the musical about a young girl named Viva who finds fame after appearing on a reality TV show.
In related news, Geri revealed to the press that she was wearing a dress of her own creation. In the past, Geri famously designed her iconic Union Jack mini dress for the 1997 Brit Awards. With the award-wining Miss Beckham — in one of her own designs, no less — standing not feet away, we can’t help but assume this was a (failed) attempt to upstage.
Ironically, we believe Sporty (who in her Spice heyday only wore track suits and trainers) stole the spotlight in her flawless dress by Acne . Zig-ah-zig-ah!
