The Met Gala red carpet strutted into the 21st century with its first-ever live-stream and now the other Oscars of fashion, the 2012 CFDA Awards, will be broadcast on Style.com a day after it’s held on June 4.
Naturally, Style.com will tweet, Instagram and Tumblr the shizz out of the event, but the show itself will feature the site’s own Tim Blanks manning the red carpet as well as interviews and other Web exclusives. Steven Kolb, the CFDA’s CEO, noted that the broadcast would broaden the awards’ and the organization’s audience beyond just fashion folk.
Let’s all hope for a bloated, overlong TV broadcast hosted by an uncomfortable comedian next year! [WWD]
