The Australian Ballet came to New York this past week with a chillingly original, jaw dropping performance at Lincoln Center.
A fusion of classic Western ballet and Aboriginal movement, this performance was no ordinary ballet. Full of modern inspired movements, avant garde costuming, and multimedia interaction, it was a complete sensory experience and not to mention, so much fun to watch.
The performance we saw was titled Infinity. It was a sampling of the range of the Australian ballerinas, with everything from traditional classic ballet to modern choreography that defied the laws of human physics. The talent these dancers had was on par if not beyond any ballet corps we have seen perform on the famed Lincoln Center stages.
Artistic Director David McAllister did a brilliant job curating the last 50 years of the Australian Ballet, educating and entertaining us at the same time. To stalk them around their world tour, check out the website here.
