Every once in a while, hubby and I need to get away from our daily lives, yet the hecticness of our life doesn’t leave us much time for travel outside of the Manhattan area. And yet, we so long to get away from our Gramercy apartment containing too little room, and too many dogs. So, we book a hotel in a part of town that we don’t typically visit, and have ourselves a mini vacation, usually involving a fancy dinner and a bubble filled tub. Last Saturday, we bunked at the Conrad New York, a massive downtown destination with the most beautiful architectural decor, including a spiral staircase worthy of a Gossip Girl episode.
We arrived to find a suite befitting royalty, and a dreamy Reem Acra gown courtesy of Rent the Runway awaiting me with accompanying jewels. After taking a brief nap in the cloud like bed, I put on the gown, brushed my hair, and added accessories. Then we headed downstairs for some snapshots. A few girlies in the elevator asked if we were shooting for a publication, I quickly replied, ‘Why yes, Vogue,’ which gave me a weird sense of accomplishment.
We snapped some photos in various places in the hotel, almost getting lost at some point, and headed outside to the snowy entrance. Although freezing, the dimly lit streets were the perfect background.
Since I’m nowhere near being a fancy pants, and I was hungry for pizza (one cheat day allowed on my crazy fashion week diet consisting of no carbs, no sugar, and no dairy for 6 days a week), we headed downstairs to get pies. The best part of the evening (besides the rated R version I won’t share in this post) is all the looks from the locals towards my ball gown wearing butt at a sports bar.
