Oscars Red White and Black

Red, white and black. We’re seeing a trend here.

While some may say navy was the shade of the evening, my fashion-curated eyes saw another trend, winners in red dresses, white gowns and black sequined stunners. Inspired by the colors of Olay, which are always on trend, I tracked down a few of the winning looks of Hollywood’s biggest and boldest night. Basically, I act like every other girl in world today and ooh and ash over all the pretty dresses. God, I pray I one day am forced to look this good.

Red Was Far From Dead. (I’m going to be rhyming all my titles for this post, so get used to it.)

Fiery gowns worn by Olivia Munn, in a red and gold Marchesa gown, and Jennifer Aniston, in a strapless Valentino, throwing caution to the wind and not worrying about competing with the scenery. But I guess other things were more shocking during the evening, including a gown by H&M?!? worn by nominee Helen Hunt and a best picture award announcement by Michelle Obama, who phoned in the announcement of Argo for Best Picture, missing her opp to party it up in person with winners George Clooney and Ben Afleck.

Others in red included Amanda Seyfried, who changed into a Valentino gown for her attendance at the Vanity Fair after party (by far the best party of the evening just judging by the amount of press releases currently filling my mailbox), and Hilary Swank also in Valentino at the after party.

White Feels So Right.

Jennifer Lawrence, two-time Oscar nominee and winner for Best Actress for her role in Silver Linings Playbook, looked stunning in a white strapless mermaid gown by Dior Couture. The dress was so flippin haute that even when she tripped while walking up to accept her award she looked like she was posing for a campaign shoot by Raf Simons or in a spread for Vogue under the watchful eye of Grace Coddington.

Others who managed to shine bright in white included Kristen Stewart in a floor-length Naeem Khan, who skipped her traditional footwear of ratty sneakers for Jimmy Choo pumps, Charlize Theron who also hit the red carpet and the dance floor in Dior, and Georgina Chapman who turned heads in, of course, Marchesa.

Midnight gowns worn by Stacy Keibler in Naeem Kahn,  Halle Berry in custom Versace,  Sandra Bullock in Elie Saab were very popular on Oscar night. Kelly Rowland in Donna Karen Atelier Zoe Saldana in a Alexis Mabille both mixed black and white, a big trend for Spring.

Adele surprised many by wearing a black sequined Burberry silk dress for her performance of her award-winning song, Skyfall. Adele walked the red carpet in a Jenny Packham gown. Channing Tatum’s future baby momma Jenna Dewan Tatum glowed in Gucci, while Gulianna Rancic was flawless in a black strapless Rafael Cennamo gown and Kelly Osbourne chose a $16,500 Tony Ward Couture dress for her duties for E!

For a night full of old school glamour, the shades of Olay always remain on trend.
