Whose shoes are the fairest of them all? It appears Manolo Blahnik CBE, also known as Carrie Bradshaw's footwear designer of choice, wins that coveted prize. The iconic cobbler will be awarded the Outstanding Achievement Award at the British Fashion Awards on 27 November.
"It is a great honour to be receiving this award from the British Fashion Council. To be recognised for doing something I love is really wonderful," Blahnik said of the prestigious award.
Celebrating his 40-year career, the designer, who was advised by legendary American Vogue editor Diana Vreeland to focus solely on shoes, first set up shop in London in 1971. Thanks to his detailed craftsmanship, and the faithful fashion following of Sex And The City, Manolo Blahnik has come to epitomise modern, luxurious footwear.
Caroline Rush, chief executive of the BFC, said in a statement: "Throughout his career he has contributed so much, not only to British fashion but also internationally, he has a worldwide cult following and this is true testament to his enduring talent and success."
