Calling all magpies: today marks the official start of London Jewellery Week.
As with the ready-to-wear collections, Somerset House is playing host to the new season collections from the best international brands and British designers, with autumn/winter 2012 launches and spring/summer 2013 previews. The action kicks off with a series of trade events and culminates in Treasure, the consumer portion of the event - which is where things get very exciting for those who aren't industry insiders.
Whether you're looking to splash out on a one-off piece to be commissioned direct from one of the industry's leading lights, pick up a quirky and unique piece to update your jewellery box or simply enjoy a browse with friends, this is the thing for you.
Treasure is curated by Elizabeth Galton and opens with a VIP preview evening (for which tickets cost ??25) on 14 June, and runs until 17 June. A standard entry ticket will set you back ??10, for which you can expect access to pavilions dedicated to various themes, such as sustainable jewellery and bridal designs, plus talks, a Treasure Photo Booth, pamper room and a special Father's Day afternoon tea.
Don't live in London? There are events taking place nationwide to mark the occasion. To find out more, or book tickets, visit www.jewelleryweek.com.
To celebrate all things sparkly, the GLAMOUR.com fashion desk created an edit of the best jewellery to buy now. We'll see you at the event, gathering inspiration for next season's!
