Anna Dello Russo is well known for her flamboyance: as Vogue Japan's Editor-At-Large, the proud owner of 4,000 shoes and having been acknowledged as a 'fashion maniac' (Helmut Newton's words, not ours!). Russo is the peacock of the editorial fashion world and certainly practises what she preaches. The fashion editor often takes the styling sentiments from a wacky shoot, ten struts further. With a wardrobe so packed full of Alexander McQueen and Balmain that she owns a second flat in Milan, just to house the pieces!
And so, Dello Russo makes Jennifer Saunders' Absolutely Fabulous look tame. Naturally, the high street savvy store H&M want a piece of this extra extravagant woman. This is the first special collaboration with a Cond?© Nast employee and is set to be just as popular as its predecessors. H&M's last collaborative collections by Marni and Versace proved to be sell-outs within a matter of minutes.
What to expect? The fashion idol designs a statement-making collection of accessories, including shoes magpies will adore, ornate clutches, unapologetic bracelets and Dame Edna-like sunglasses. Not a range for the faint-hearted!
"The collection is a celebration of excess, fantasy and decoration" says Margareta van den Bosch, Creative Advisor at H&M. Bravo!
"I am excited by this collaboration: this is the first time H&M involves a fashion director in a special project. This is the sign of an important evolution in fashion, and I am both thrilled and humbled to be the one chosen to lead it. I wanted to create precious accessories that are impossible to find", says Anna Dello Russo.
"As a stylist I know accessorization is essential: it is the personal touch to any outfit. With these pieces everybody can have fun, turning an ordinary day into a fantastic fashion day", adds the Vogue veteran.
Available from 4th October 2012 in around 140 stores worldwide and online.
