Floor length skirts, sheer and leather shirts with plaid accents highlight Qasimi Fall 2012. This was the grungy Arab gentleman’s collection designed by Khalid AlQasimi. Son of a ruler from the United Arab Emirates, he does anything but sit pretty (though pretty, he is). He won awards for his photography back in 2004, and has put his architectural education to play in the clothing he’s been designing since 2010. These three looks below from Spring 2012 clearly show his military persuasion. Back in 2010, for his only womenswear collection to date, he made it “resemble warriors walking out of a crypt and down the runway.” Perhaps his womenswear was too racy for the culture in which he lives? For now exclusively in menswear, he displays his affinity for the avant gard.
