Designer Daily: Erin Considine

After years of study in metalworking and sustainability, third generation craftsperson Erin Considine fused her love of crafting fibers and metals to create jewelry that feels as luscious as it is tough. Using natural plants, she makes dyes on her stovetop and colors the yarns which she spins by hand into fabric. She wraps metal necklaces in her super soft fabric, and bends the metal to her will. She showed Of A Kind how she uses saws to make bronze look rugged and feel soft, and the sideways glances she gets from spinning yarns on subway on what looks like a child’s toy mobile.
