Asher Levine on the Apocalypse and Changing the State of Men’s Fashion

Last fashion week, one of Asher Levine‘s fashion coordinators said to him, “My boyfriend saw the clothes and he totally wants them.” This is exciting for Asher because the coordinator in question is a girl, and thus, her boyfriend is straight. The state of menswear is changing, and Asher Levine is at the forefront.

He uses draping techniques and powerful structures that are usually reserved for women. He’s scouting the world for technology that will enhance his designs. His idea of the apocalypse, which he designed for last season is,” more of a denouement of the psyche than a physical apocalypse. Maybe it’s more a rebirth of human expression.”

See the completely fresh (and subtly colorful) Cruise 2013, emerging out of his new TriBeCa studio, in Paris right now.
